This is Story two
The sun was setting over the small town, casting a warm glow over the streets. Maria stood at the window of her apartment, watching the people below as they went about their evening routines. She sighed and turned away, walking over to the kitchen to start dinner.
As she began to chop vegetables for a stir-fry, her thoughts drifted to the events of the past year. It had been a difficult time, full of ups and downs, but Maria was determined to stay positive. She was grateful for her small but comfortable apartment, her job at the local library, and the support of her friends and family.
As she cooked, the aroma of the sizzling vegetables filled the air, making Maria's stomach growl with hunger. She smiled to herself, feeling a sense of accomplishment as she prepared a meal for herself.
Just then, there was a knock at the door. Maria wiped her hands on a towel and went to answer it, curious to see who could be visiting at this hour. When she opened the door, she was surprised to find her best friend standing on the other side, a wide grin on her face.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" Maria asked, delighted to see her.
"I have a surprise for you," her friend replied, handing her a small package. "I know things have been tough, so I wanted to do something nice for you."
Tears sprang to Maria's eyes as she tore open the package to find a beautiful, hand-knit scarf. "This is so thoughtful," she said, throwing her arms around her friend in a hug. "Thank you so much."
"Anytime," her friend replied, hugging her back. "That's what friends are for."
As they sat down to enjoy the delicious stir-fry together, Maria couldn't help but feel grateful and loved. She knew that no matter what challenges life threw her way, she had the support of her loved ones to help her through.
